DAY 1: Reinventing The Sandwich

Today I saved a few extra minutes to make my lunch for the Food Network's "Healthy Eats Brown-Bag Challenge. Just to recap, for the next 30 days I will be making a home-made lunch and brown bagging to school and work. My family has been recruited as well, so when school starts next week I will have triple the bags to pack...No worries. It's all about healthy eating, so it's definitely worth it.

In the bag today is: Roasted Turkey Sandwich with sliced Cucumbers and Tomatoes on Jalapeno Cheddar Bread and Tim's Luau BBQ Chips(these are so AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS), Juicy, Fresh Fruit Grape Medley and Frozen Bottled TAP Water. Variety in colors and texture will make your lunch visually appealing and satisfy your palette, so when packing remember to add at least 3 colors in the fruits and veggie department. Try different types of breads-my favorites are always those with nuts or olive oil or some kind of pepper or cheese baked right in.

It is very helpful to freeze bottled water and place it in with your lunch so that your food stays cold and to prevent food borne illnesses.

So we are off and running! Here's to making healthy, delicious meals. P.S. I forgot the brown bags...will buy an actual lunch bag this weekend.

Brown Bag ChallengeWe’re teaming up with fellow food bloggers to host a Brown-Bag Challenge, a month-long initiative to eat consciously and save money by packing a lunch each weekday instead of eating out. Join us here and share what you're eating on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #brownbag.
